  how can we stop this happening again? Can we fund fences around the crops, to stop the animals trampling them? Otherwise it seems like it's going to be an on-going problem...

  I highly appreciate your questions!
  This problem is widespread, not only in Africa. And its not only the crops which are trampled but also many people get killed and insured in such confrontations! Alone in India about 1000 people got killed over a period of just 3 years! And I guess, not less in Africa. Just along the boundaries of one of the projects we support, 4 people got killed over the past years!
  But have a look at the response to our call for "Wildschäden armer Bauern ersetzen" or the "Sofortmaßnahme Elefanten Schutzzaun" at betterplace.... almost nothing!
  We had to take up a loan to be able to erect the electric fence last year......and still battling to repay that loan! Not talking about extension of the fence.... It's a nightmare to know of all the problems and how to solve them, but not able to help!
