Joana holds a PhD in cultural anthropology. She has written numerous books and articles on cultural globalization, migration, tourism and development. She is the Berlin coordinator of the Children’s Council of Children for a Better World.
Stephan is Professor of Law at the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder), and Professor of Mediation at the University of Vienna. He is a co-founder of the Project Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance in Berlin as well as a practicing mediator, advisor to the German government and entrepreneur.
Jörg is a founding partner of M10 GmbH, Berlin, a privately owned investment firm that focuses on early stage investments in ground breaking internet, telecom and media businesses. Jörg is a serial entrepreneur and active investor. While studying business administration in Cologne he co-founded denkwerk GmbH and later alando.de AG which was bought by eBay Inc. After being managing director of eBay in Germany for five years he co-founded M10 GmbH.

After finishing his business degrees, he worked for the Boston Consulting Group in Europe and the US and in general management positions of small and large firms in Germany.
Philipp holds an honors degree in Business Science. From 1999 until 2002, he was International Key Account Manager for paybox, the first mobile pay system in Europe. Later he was marketing director of a yacht company. Since 2004, he has been running a travel and event agency. Member of the founding team.
Aishah is a certified translator and worked in the HR/communication department of a start-up company in Berlin, before graduating as PR consultant at the UMC Potsdam.
Line has a master's degree in development studies and anthropology. She grew up in Denmark, Kenya and South Africa. After her studies in London, she worked for Amnesty International in South Africa and India, for the International Red Cross in France, and since 2000 for the office of Poul Nielsen, EU Commissioner for Development and later as a consultant at Burson Marsteller. Nunni studied communication studies and has a decade’s work experience in customer service departments in international advertising agencies. Since 2004, she has been a freelancer for online portals in tourism, design and music distribution.
Hannelore is a journalist. She has been PR representative for foreign trade at the embassies of the GDR (East Germany) in London and Athens and worked as a journalism trainer in Berlin, Namibia and India. From 1996 to 2003, she has been consultant for gender mainstreaming and coordinator of a rural drinking water programme of the German Development Service (ded) in Cameroon.
Marion studied political science and wrote her PhD in the field of welfare state research. She worked for one of the biggest welfare organisations in Germany (DPWV), the Federation of German Consumer Organisations and a university of applied science in Zurich.
Annika has a degree in Cultural Management. Her thesis about corporate responsibility and sustainability was published in 2006. She worked as a project coordinator at a media company before joining betterplace.
Bodo is a designer with a degree from the University of Technology Cape Town. He played professional rugby in South Africa and Ireland and is partner in a communication agency in South Africa, consulting, amongst others, aid organisations in the region. Member of the founding team.
Axel has a degree in computer engineering, specializing in the management of large server farms. He was a co-founder of A Med-World AG, later head of IT (HealthMarkets) at OnVista Media GmbH and responsible for the launch and implementation of health portal onmeda.de. Since 2006, he has been administrator and webmaster at Cornelsen Publishing. Member of the founding team.
Samir was a Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes fellowship holder in 1989-1993. He is a freelance IT consultant for large client-server projects. He founded and developed the Hot Intuition Project, a programming language for the development of highly flexible, robust and visual applications. Between 2003 and 2006, he was technical director of a software company specializing in knowledge management. Member of the founding team.

Christian has a degree in business informatics. Conceived the e-learning strategy for the city of Berlin's sanitation department and was from 2005-2006 editor of the MKZWO-Journal.
Kerstin studied business administration from 2000 - 2002. She worked for Bertelsmann PLC in group accounting and subsequently as a controller for paybox, which was the first mobile payment system in Europe. For the last three and a half years she was Financial Director for a service provider of e-procurement and e-learning.
